I am a London-based photographer dedicated to capturing the essence of individuals within the LGBTQ+ community through the art of portraiture. Before 1967, homosexuality in the UK was illegal, and even after partial decriminalisation, society's perception of LGBTQ+ individuals remained stigmatised. The lack of open visual representation inspired me to pick up a camera and document the people I meet. "Looking for Light" is an ongoing photographic series that highlights the vibrancy and diversity of physical expression and the personal struggles with sexuality and acceptance among queer men. There's an intriguing uniformity within this diverse group—many exhibit the same stubble beards and well-groomed hair. Yet, each subject brings a distinct set of complexities and individual stories to the forefront.
