Curated by Carolina Grancho (@___01000011)
Supported by Photobook Cafe
Opening on Thursday, 11th July / 6:00-9:00 PM
Join us for the opening of a reading room dedicated to the photobooks of 26 Japanese women photographers. We are delighted to present this wide range of photobooks representing the work of photographers active from the postwar era to the present day. All books will be available for consultation, we encourage you to engage with their materiality (albeit with care).

Photobooks are widely recognised as an essential element of the history of Japanese photography, and yet Japanese women photographers and their photobooks
have been long overlooked in art historical accounts and by popular culture. With Provocative Materials for Thought we seek to platform women photographers without offering a limiting interpretation of their work, instead creating a space for a speculative rewriting of the history of Japanese photography in which women’s contributions are rightfully acknowledged.
Exhibition is on from 11-16 July
ARTIST TALKS on the weekend (13-14 July) to be announced soon.
Save the dates and watch this space!
